INTERCONNECTORS & CABLES

Making the right connections for you

Early decision-making can influence the risk profile of an interconnector or cable project as well as the risk profile for an entire offshore renewable development, with cost implications throughout the project lifecycle, not only during the engineering and construction phase but also through to operation and eventual decommissioning of an asset.

We offer an extensive package of support for engineering and construction activities from design engineering to construction and O&M strategy and everything in between, backed up by many years of successful execution on diverse and challenging projects.

Project Management

We provide contract management, package management and stakeholder management services for construction activities and have experience supporting major UK marine infrastructure projects such as Shetland HVDC, Maritime Link in Canada, Trans Bay Cable in USA and AAPowerLink in Australia.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

We understand the criticality of this design phase and our cables team is well known for our industry-leading capability and track record in supporting clients to develop buildable, bankable and consentable projects.

We provide expert consultancy and engineering in areas such as cable routing, cable burial risk assessment and survey scoping to help clients make informed decisions and reduce their own risk profile.

We do not rest solely on our experience, we place high importance on innovation. We have demonstrated this with our market-leading project development toolkit, which includes artificial intelligence software for export cable routing and array cable optimisation, as well as our in-house semi-automated burial risk assessment tool, XA-CBRA.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

We work closely with our clients and provide a wide array of operations support services, tailored to suit their needs.

This ranges from full asset integrity management to specialist activities such as survey procurement and management, emergency response and repair support, cable integrity risk assessment and expert witness / due diligence.

The introduction of our asset management software platform, XAMIN, has achieved year-on-year savings for our clients while increasing the safety and reliability of their infrastructure. We offer a fresh perspective and an attitude to challenge convention to deliver higher performance of assets for our clients.

DECOMMISSIONING

We see decommissioning as a key part of the project lifecycle which should not only be considered at project end-of-life but should be carefully planned for and considered at the earliest project development phase.

The integration of our engineering and environmental specialists across all of our offerings allows for this to happen, with lessons learned captured and recycled through the project phases to ensure we are always learning and improving the way we do things.
