PROCESS & FACILITIES

Innovation, technology and the energy transition at our heart

Whether your requirements are for a simple remote well pad out in the Middle East or a complex floating LNG facility in the Pacific, repurposing for CCUS or understanding the needs of an energy hub, we have the global track record to deliver, no matter what your energy challenge is.

As an integrated consultancy that has innovation, technology and the energy transition at our heart, we have all the discipline facilities engineering capability in-house, ensuring seamless delivery of the process, mechanical, piping, structural and E&I designs. We also have specialist finite element modelling capabilities for novel or complex design solutions. We love problem solving, supporting clients in finding the right technical solution and delivering complex integrated brownfield designs, especially within the weight and space constraints of an existing offshore facility. We use the latest 3D technology to ensure our designs will fully integrate with your operating facility.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

We deliver facility engineering designs from initial conceptional screening through to FEED, delivering class 2 estimates for your projects.

Our lead engineers have all worked on major EPC contracts and understand what’s required beyond FEED and the limitations of what can or cannot be implemented in “the real world”, giving credence to our conceptual designs.

We are not just engineering new greenfield projects either. Our forte is delivering complex brownfield designs both for onshore and offshore facilities, especially understanding the brownfield challenges and weight and space constraints of an existing offshore facility. In sync with our technology, we have the personnel with operations experience to make sure the design will fully integrate with your operating asset. Many of these brownfield projects have subsea design content, and again, this is all under the “one roof” minimising your design interface hassle.

We are focused on the energy transition and are well placed to deliver your hydrogen and CCUS based projects. With key specialists within Xodus, we are delivering conceptual and front-end projects ranging from wide area hydrogen transport, carbon capture and storage and infrastructure upgrades to specific changeout of hydrocarbon fuel gas systems to hydrogen. We are advisors to government and industry bodies in the UK.

OPERATIONS SUPPORT

Digital technology and the energy transition is at the forefront of our plans.

We have developed digital automated optimisation methods to give the power to our process engineers to get the most out of your asset: minimising fuel consumption, minimising emissions and maximising your production. We have embraced the need for electrification, emissions reduction measures as a route to net zero and are delivering shared power and power-from-shore solutions to replace local on-platform generation. We tie-in with our renewables division to provide integrated offshore wind projects for your power requirements.

As well as optimal operating performance, our digital visualisation techniques are providing operators with low-cost dashboards that monitor system trends and identify points of degradation. By using a combination of real time plant data, digital twins, and engineering calculation, we can give you visualisation of things you cannot measure. We can deploy virtual flare metering to identify specific areas of the plant with higher emissions

Trouble Shooting and Dynamic Simulation

Operational problems, poor control and plant trips can result in low productivity and downtime.  We are also experts in dynamic process simulations enabling us to optimise process control, solve operational problems and validate new process designs. Our experts can create digital twins of systems that dynamically show and predict the performance of the plant. We can then assess the range of scenarios that are causing an operational challenge and test out a range of solutions and control parameters that will address the issues you have.

DECOMMISSIONING

As ageing facilities enter late life, our facilities engineering can assess options to reduce OPEX, simplify the process, right size equipment to reduce power demand saving emissions and undertake life extension assessments.

The process and facilities division can also work with our decommissioning specialists in developing an integrated late life strategy prior decommissioning.

At the end of economic operation, facilities need to be decommissioned, whether this be the full facility or just a module in the overall process. We understand the global requirements, and our process engineers will assist in engineering temporary system solutions. We have the structural capability to assess how modules can be cut free from any existing structure or platforms and the necessary pre-structural work that may need to be done to re-instate lifting points or provide adequate protection for existing facilities.
